AUGUST TRAVEL QUOTES

We are a few days before September and the cooler weather comes in.

Like with the most of the summer, many of us haven’t been able to travel.

Or at least not by plane.

Road trips seem to be making a comeback.

If you don’t have a car, public transportation just for that 30 Plus Teams daytrip is the way to go.

As usual, let these quotes inspire you.

BEING A SPORTS DIVA DURING COVID 19

As some of you may or may not know, I like sports .

No, let me stop with  the boo crap.

I LOVE SPORTS !

I’m  not called the Sports  Diva  for nothing .

This is what 30 Plus  Teams ,  30  Plus  Dreams  is all about.

It’s  a love of sports and traveling  to  a  city to see a game, not to mention  what to do in that city once   that   baseball ,  hockey ,  football  and  basketball  games are over.

The virus  from  hell, also known  as  Covid  19 ,  not only stopped  my travel, it also stopped  me and a lot of other sports fans from doing what we love  best.

Going to  a sporting  event or even watching it on TV or our mobile  devicesFB_IMG_1597784838722FB_IMG_1597784760339.

The last sporting  event that I  attended  on my 30 Plus  Teams  Tour  was in Las Vegas   between  the Golden  Knights  and Los Angeles  Kings.

It was on my bucket list  to do this.

There haven’t been any more games for me to attend because of the pandemic .

At the beginning  of  March ,  the NBA   (National  Basketball  Association  ) and the NHL   (National  Hockey  League  )decided to postpone  their season until God knows when.

I don’t  need to tell you how this made the Sports Diva  feel.

You can only imagine .

I  didn’t  care that  I  wouldn’t  be  able  to  travel to a game, I  can live with that.

No, seriously, I’m  dealing with taking public  transportation for a 30 Plus  Teams  Tour   and not airplanes  .

But to not be able to watch a game on television  or listen  to  it on the radio, no the Sports  Diva  wasn’t  feeling this.

I  was going crazy.

It came  to  the  point where I  would go to YouTube  to watch reruns of New England  Patriots  Superbowl  wins, New York  Yankees baseball games and all the  hockey replays that I  could  stand.

I was even watching people going to their favorite stadium, ball park or arena on the Travel  Channel ,  no less.

That’s  how much I  missed my sports and I wasn’t  the only one as I discovered  from Facebook   and other social media posts.

When hockey came back on August  1st   for the playoffs   with no fans, did the Sports Diva  care?

Not  at all, it was sports and yes, I planned my day around what time games were on TV or radio for the two New York  City  teams that were  in the playoffs .

I’m  not kidding .

If a game began at noon, you’d  better believe that the Sports  Diva  was going to  have all of her housework done by 11:59am, no matter what team was on.

This is what it’s  like to be a Sports  Diva during Covid 19.f8576254037fd72511ad0c918ed877417c7324541b8a15cf35ddb7030c44ae0b.05af6201e00c4d3a814aafceb0e4ba9a35214a7a280b81dbaf9d3ab25c959940c.0FB_IMG_1597785426817

A VISIT TO BELMONT PARK

  • I thought I  would  be missing  all the 30 Plus  Teams  Tours  that I  would be making since the Virus  from  hell  came  on the scene .
  • I couldn’t  understand  why y’all  were so interested  in what was in my suitcase.
  • In other words, I  really thought that I would really miss plane travel for another 30 Plus  Teams  Tour  of  anywhere .
  • Believe it or not, I’m  really enjoying visiting  places by public transportation .
  • I  took  another trip on the local Queens bus to Elmont, Long Island .
  • I was going to see Belmont Racetrack ,home of the third leg of horse  racing’s ‘triple crown’.
  • But no, I don’t   bet on horses .
  • I just like looking  at  them.
  • (Besides the  Belmont Stakes, there’s  also the Preakness  Stakes, held in Baltimore  and of course, something that’s  on my bucket list ,  the Kentucky  Derby, held in Louisville ,  Kentucky  .)
  • The Sports Diva  had another reason for visiting  Elmont and Belmont  Park .
  • Right next door ,  under construction ,  is Belmont  Arena .
  • It’s  going to be the new home  of  the  New York  Islanders  hockey club.
  • You just know ,  the Sports Diva  had to see this.
  • As it was a very nice day, I  really enjoyed  my day and am looking forward  to  the next place to visit.
  • I said it before and I’ll  say it again.
  • I  can get used to not flying anywhere but taking public  transportation . 20200814_12581020200814_12414720200814_125158FB_IMG_159745653520320200814_12564620200814_12473920200814_12450220200814_13043620200814_13012820200814_130518

A DAY IN SPRINGFIELD PARK

I didn’t  have  to  take  Nassau County public transportation for this 30 Plus  Teams  Tour .

I  let my feet do some of  the  walking.

I did take a bus but just for 20 blocks and walked the rest of the way, all 5 blocks.

I could have walked the whole way, but I  was saving my walking for the park.

Springfield  Park on Springfield  Boulevard  is located at the end of the city  of Springfield  Gardens  and the beginning  of the  city of  Rosedale . 20200811_12150220200811_11545620200811_11544720200811_12035420200811_12011720200811_12244320200811_12011120200811_12132420200811_120738

After you leave Rosedale ,  you’re  out of New York  City  and on Long Island .

Surprisingly ,  I was in this same park four years ago  to the day.

I didn’t  remember  this but leave it to Facebook  Memories  to remind me.

It was a beautiful  day, but as we are a week or so away from most of us not having any power  thanks to the hurricane, trees were down all over the park.

Queens  is the borough  of New York  City  that has the most trees, and they are NO MATCH for a storm with 75 plus mph winds  let alone rain.

It was hot but a really beautiful  day  and I’m forgetting  that I’m  not really traveling  like I used to.

Sort of .

SPENDING TIME IN FREEPORT, LONG ISLAND

If I have to run any kind of errands , they’re usually done in the cities of Springfield Gardens /Locust Manor, where I live or either in the cities of Lynbrook or Valley Stream on Long Island .

I decided to do some errands in another city on Long Island , the incorporated city of Freeport .

I’ve been to Freeport before, sort of .

Transferring to another Nassau County bus at Freeport Transit Center doesn’t count, though.

Neither does waiting at the Freeport Long Island Railroad Station .

Like everywhere else, social distancing is the norm in Freeport .

This means, have those masks, and stand six feet away no matter if you’re in the line for groceries , medicine or money at the bank.

I’m sorry that I didn’t spend a little more time here in Freeport , but I will.

It was such a nice day, but a hurricane which ended up knocking out my power for almost 4 days, was on the way .

Tell me what else can happen in New York City in 2020?

TAKING THE TEST PART 2

On July 21st ,  I took the Covid  19  test   here in Queens .

I was told it would take  7-14  days  to  get  my  results .

Friends who  took the  test received  their results  earlier than that so I  was very nervous  about  my own  results .

Let me say that tests that I  took in high school and college didn’t  make me as nervous as the results  from taking the test for the virus  from  hell .

20200721_153352When day 7 came and went, I was checking  my results almost every day, sometimes twice.

Friends and  family  members  weren’t  helping me by asking all the time if I had heard anything  about  my test results .

To say that the Sports Diva was more nervous  about this test than I am watching one of my sports teams in the seventh  game of a championship that goes into overtime ,  would be an understatement .

I was  nervous, I’m  not  going  to  lie .

Finally ,  on August  4th, exactly  14 days from when  I  first took the test, my results came in.

I was even more nervous when I read the email I  received.

NEGATIVE  PEEPS !

Even though I was more nervous than anything, fam, please take it from the  Sports  Diva ,  especially  if you’re  here in the  United  States .

If you have any symptoms  or have come into  contact  with someone  who may or may not have any symptoms ,  please get yourself  tested.

In some parts of the United States, the test is free.

Once again, in spite of  all that you’ve  heard, this is no joke and no  it isn’t  the flu .

People are dying here in the United States ,  especially  from this every  day ,  even as I’m  writing this post.

The test might seem uncomfortable  and the waiting for the results  may  seem like it takes forever, but please even if you have underlying  health issues as I do, please get this test done.

Many of you will be glad you did .

THE 400

No, it’s  not a title  for a movie.

The  Sports Diva  has reached a milestone   and wasn’t  really aware of  it.

Even  though 30 Plus  Teams ,  30 Plus  Dreams  is about what to do  in a city after you’ve  been  to that baseball ,  hockey ,  football ,  or basketball  game, there hadn’t  been  any 30 Plus  Teams  Tour  of  anywhere to go to ,  thanks to you know  what .

Instead, it has been lots of  public transportation  rides somewhere in New York  City .

One thing hasn’t  changed though.

Many of  you are still interested  in  my little  old story, and a lot of you have joined along the way.FB_IMG_1596242970760FB_IMG_1596242940958

Many of you have been with me through my travel quotes, my visits to some sporting event, and you still want to know what’s  in my suitcase .

400 plus people want to know this and for that, I  am  very grateful  and extremely  blessed that you find my posts entertaining .

Even though there  is  no  airline  travel or travel to sporting events, (no fans but there are sports, people  ), I’m  going to keep on giving you the best posts that I  can.

I hope that you’ll  continue going on this blogging journey with me .

Thank you for liking my  little  story.

God bless  you ,  the Sports  Diva  FB_IMG_1596243018293
