IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT THE MUSIC – NASHVILLE , TENNESSEE . GOING TO A NASHVILLE PREDATORS HOCKEY GAME .

You  went  to  the  Tennessee  Titans  football  game  and  it  was  a  good  thing  that  the  hostel  that  you  were  staying  in  was  close  by ,  with  all  the  tailgate  parties  you  went  to  before  and  AFTER  the  game .

You  lost  count  of  how  many  racoons  that  you’ve  seen  since  you’ve  been  in  Nashville .

No  surprise  really ,  as  racoons  are  found  all  over  the  state .

The  mascot  of  the  Titans  is  a  racoon  for  goodness  sake .

But  that  was  yesterday .

Earlier  today  you  went  to  the  building  in  town  known  as  ”  The  Parthenon  ” .

It’s  the  replica  of  The  Parthenon  in Athens ,  Greece .

It’s  located  on  the  campus  of  Vanderbilt  University .

In  keeping  with  the  Country  Music  theme  of  the ,  when  you  saw  this  replica  of  the  Parthenon ,  you thought  of  that  song  by Shania  Twain .

”  That  don’t  impress  me  much . ”

You  still  want  to  know  why  Nashville  is  known  as  ”  The  Athens  of  The  South  ” ,  because  the  only  thing  to  remind  you  of  Ancient  Greece  is  this  replica  of  the  Parthenon .

You  don’t  have  time  to  think  about  that  question  right  now ,  your  30  Plus  Teams  Tour  of  Music  City  is  really  getting  into  high  gear  now .

You  and  one  of  the  girls  you  met  at  the  hostel  are  going  to  Bridgestone  Arena  for  a  Nashville  Predators  hockey  game .

You  brought  your  ticket  before  you  left  St. Louis ,  but  your  hostel  mate  doesn’t  have  her  ticket  yet .

Luckily  the  game  wasn’t  sold  out  and  it  wasn’t  crowded ,  so  the  two  of  you  sat  a  row  behind  each  other .

It  was  your  first  time  in  the  arena  nicknamed  ”  Smashville  ” .

You  even  received  a  bobble head  doll  of  one  of  the  Nashville  players  as a  souvenir  when  you  first  entered  the  building .

You  can  see  why  this  place  is  nicknamed  ”  Smashville  ” .

That’s  not  a marketing  slogan .

Once  the  game  began ,  it  sounded  as  though  sticks ,  gloves ,  bodies  and  whatever  wasn’t  nailed  down  to  the  ice  was  flying  all  over  the  ice .

You  were  15  rows  away  from  the  ice  but  you  could  feel  everything .

During  the  game ,  you and your   hostel  mate  looked  up in  time  to  see the  Nashville  mascot ,  Gnash,  sneak  up to   a fan wearing  the  opposing  team’s  jersey  and hit  them  in the   face  with  a  pie,  much  to the   delight  of the

Predators  fans .

As for  the  entertainment  between  periods,  this  is  Music  City ,  don’t  expect  to  see  people  trying  to  win a car or truck ,  or little  children  playing  hockey .

No, you’re  going  to  get  a country  music  concert  to get the crowd  even  more  hyped.

As if they  weren’t  excited  before ,  you think .

This  is  Nashville ,  people .

It’s  all about  the  music  even in between  periods  of  a hockey  game .

Forget  about  having  some  catchy tune  when  the  team  scores  a goal ,  also .

Right  there  on the  big  jumbotron,  wearing  a  bright  yellow  and  blue  Nashville  Predators  hockey  jersey  is singer  Tim Mcgraw .

The  song he’s  singing  could  also  describe  just  how you feel  about  your  30  Plus  Teams  Tour  of  Nashville  :

”  I LIKE  IT !

I    LOVE  IT!

I   WANT  SOME  MORE  OF  IT! ”
