Your plane arrives at the other Toronto airport , the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport .
You and your brother can’t believe that you’re actually in the place that your favorite singer , Drake ,sings about .
His hometown , the “416 “.
Although , the two of you are going to find out just why he calls it”The 416 “, instead of its name , Toronto .
Your 30 Plus Teams Tour has brought the two of you out of the United States and into another country .
CANADA , THE TRUE NORTH ! !
You were wide awake for the short flight on Porter Airlines from Newark Liberty Airport .
You were way too excited to sleep .
Your brother and your grandparents , who came with you , slept through the flight , but leave it to your twin brother to wake up just as the flight attendants came around with the food and beverage cart.
Since the airport is so close to the city , you can walk through the pedestrian tunnel to get to Downtown Toronto .
Your grandparents aren’t having any of this walking through tunnels nonsense , so your cousin and her husband are meeting the four of you at the airport to bring you to your hotel .
Your brother wants to get some coffee , but there doesn’t seem to be any Starbucks close by .
Your grandmother tells you to forget about “that awful expensive stuff passing as coffee at Starbucks and get some real coffee , Tim Hortons . ”
Your grandfather nods approvingly .
The two of them seem to be more excited about this Tim Hortons place than the two of you are .
Both of you will discover on your 30 Plus Teams Tour of Toronto that Tim Hortons Coffee Shops are EVERYWHERE in town and they just don’t sell coffee and donuts .
After you all get your coffee , you notice the money you got back from giving the clerk American money .
“This is Canadian money ? It looks mad funny , “your brother says , looking at the very colorful bills
Your grandparents tell you to look at your change because you might just have a “loonie” and a “Toonie”in there .
You look at the two of them as though they’re speaking another language .
They aren’t .
You both figure that since they lived in Toronto , they know what they’re talking about .
The Loonie is a $1 coin and the Toonie is a $2 coin .
They’re called that because of the bird on the front of both coins , known as the Loon.
You will both discover that the only coin that really isn’t used that much in Canada are pennies .
So if something costs $10.99, it’s rounded up to $11.
You all went through Canadian Customs , which didn’t seem too bad
, but you and your brother had to lie about the real reason that you’re in Toronto .
Just like your grandparents did , you both said that you were in Toronto to visit family .
That was just part of the reason , but not the real reason .
If you both had mentioned that you all were going to see a Toronto Maple Leafs hockey game , that would have ruined the big surprise that you had for your grandparents .
They had no idea that they were going as you and your brother brought the tickets as a gift for everything they had done for the both of you since your parents died .
You both are getting more and more excited as you wait for your cousins to take you to your hotel .
From the distance , you can see it.
It’s the symbol of Toronto , the CN Tower .
You won’t be able to go ANYWHERE on your 30 Plus Teams Tour of Toronto without seeing it .
The four of you have made it safely as you all put your suitcases into your cousin’s car.
Welcome to Toronto , the True North .
The 416 .
